Indications/Uses
Chronic open-angle glaucoma & ocular HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Reactive airway disorders, including severe bronchial asthma or history of severe bronchial asthma, severe COPD. Patients w/ sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, sino-atrial block, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block not controlled by pacemaker; known cardiac failure or cardiogenic shock.
Special Precautions
DM; thyrotoxicosis; patients w/ excessive restriction of pulmonary function; patients w/ a history of atopy or a history of severe anaphylactic reaction to a variety of allergens. Potentiates muscle weakness. Consider gradual w/drawal of β-adrenergic receptor blocking agents prior to general anaesth. Do not use w/ contact lenses. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; vision blurred, lacrimation increased, foreign body sensation in eyes. Bradycardia, tachycardia; punctate keratitis, keratitis, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, visual acuity reduced, visual impairment, photophobia, eye pain, dry eye, asthenopia, blepharospasm, abnormal sensation in eye, eye pruritus, eye discharge, eyelid margin crusting, eye inflammation, eye irritation, conjunctival disorder, conjunctival oedema, ocular hyperaemia; asthma, dyspnoea, resp disorder; nausea; rhinitis.
Drug Interactions
Potential additive effect w/ oral β-adrenergic blocking agent; catecholamine-depleting drugs eg, reserpine.
